We have begun learning the vocabulary that students will need to complete their final French assignment. Students will be creating a poster about themselves entitled "Tout sur moi!" or "All About Me!" They will be a writing a French paragraph about their likes, family, personality traits and hobbies they have. They will include a self portrait as well as drawings to represent their interests. We will be working on this assignment for the reminder of our French classes. Students will present their paragraphs and posters to their class in the last few French classes. The exact presentation date is to be determined based on how fast students work.
4A students had lots of fun on Wednesday when grade 5’s visited our class to teach students the card game “Go Fish” in French. They taught them the sentences needed to play in French as well as the face cards before playing a few games with each other. 4D will be taught the game next week!
Students received their "All About Me" poster projects back this week with their attached marks. The students did a great job on this assignment! Over the past few weeks we have been learning “les saisons” (the seasons) and vocabulary associated with clothing (Les vêtements). Students have been studying the names of articles of clothing associated with what you would wear in each season. This will lead into an in-class project next week, which will incorporate past and present vocabulary including clothing, weather, seasons and colours.
—Mme Jagger Students in 4C and 4F have now completed their presentations about 'Les Parties du Corps' (The Parts of the Body). Here are some sites from the Internet that may afford additional help students in their pronunciation: www.languageguide.org/french/vocabulary/body/
www.languageguide.org/french/vocabulary/face/ Grade 4's continued to work with la famille vocabulary. They looked at a French family tree, the Dubois family, and had to answer the riddle of " who am I?" or "qui suis je?" This was a little bit challenging for some. We will be doing another, larger, family tree next week.
We had some special guests this week in French! Some grade 5 students that are currently in Intensive French came to teach the grade 4's "Go Fish" en francais! The grade 4's were able to introduce themselves and knew the card numbers from 2-10. The grade 5's were able to teach them the face cards, as well as the common phrases needed to play the game! It was lots of fun!
We also started la famille this week or "the family." Students learned the vocabulary for most family members and will be using this vocabulary over the next couple of French classes! 4B les vêtements assignment due Tuesday, April 17
4E les vêtements assignment due Thursday, April 19 Over the past few weeks students have been learning vocabulary to describe who they are such as how old they are; where they live; when their birthday is; what colors they like/love; what they like to do in their spare time; and their physical traits and personality traits. Students were introduced to an “All About Me” poster project they will start working on next week. In class they will work on a written paragraph to describe themselves using the vocabulary learned. They will take this paragraph home next week with a piece of poster paper to create a poster at home about themselves to go with their writing. Their posters are due on Monday, April 23rd for 4A, and Tuesday, April 24th for 4D with presentations to follow. I've attached the project criteria, rubric and writing samples below, along with some sample posters.
