Math – This week, students continued their learning in the division unit. They received individual copies of the Group Division Challenge from last week, which included an evaluation for each group. Students also received a series of basic division tasks, and were given some class time to work independently through the problems in their duotangs. The due date for these division tasks is: Tuesday, April 3. (Please see the photo post below if your child struggles to read the photocopied tasks.)
Prodigy – 4E and 4F students are encouraged to visit and log into the Prodigy website over Spring Break. There are many wonderful problems and challenges for students to solve at their individual levels! www.prodigygame.com/Play/
Science – Students continued to learn about gears and pulley systems in science this week. They enjoyed the "I Spy" picture task, which had them exploring and identifying both gears and pulleys in a real-world setting. My 4E and 4F students were very clever as they worked through this challenge, and were able to identify three more pulley systems than I could! Way to go, Kodiaks!
Students also enjoyed playing the Gear Game and Goldberg to Go games on laptops (see links posted below), and are encouraged to explore this simple machines website over the break: interactivesites.weebly.com/simple-machines.html
Monthly Letters – Last week, students wrote March's monthly letter in their journals. There are a few students in 4F who have still not returned their journals, despite ongoing reminders.
Flex – We enjoyed listening to three more favorite childhood stories in 4F this week! I have not assigned anymore students to share theirs, but will do so after the break.
