Math – Students wrote their Subtraction Quiz on Monday. Quizzes have since been sent home for parental review/signatures. We have moved onto our Multiplication Unit! Students have been busy learning about multiplication concepts and strategies in class, and have some homework to complete over the weekend. They are encouraged to use the blue Multiplication Table in their duotangs for difficult questions, but should strive to not rely on the chart.
Prodigy – Students are always encouraged to log into Prodigy at home in their spare time to brush up on their math skills and understanding of concepts. I have set up and assigned various multiplication challenges for the students to complete online.
Problem of the Week – This week's problem is posted below. Thanks to all 4E and 4F students for tackling last week's problem. Great job!
Estimation Station – There were 173 coloured rocks in the Estimation Station Jar this week. Congratulations to M.S. in 4F who came closest to that number with 135. This was M.S's second win for 4F this year. Superb job!
Science – This week, students explored and learned about rollers, wheels and axles and levers. They enjoyed the hands-on experimental tasks for the rollers and levers. Students were very engaged in our discussions and while watching videos in class. In the coming days, students will design and build a model car in class which will further their understanding of wheels and axles. Please send in a 500 ml water bottle with your child on Monday, if you haven't done so already. The water bottle needs to be empty and damage-free (i.e. no dents).
