This week students were shown the requirements for their les vêtements assignment that they began. We reviewed all the clothing vocabulary and then wrote two paragraphs together. In their paragraphs students must include: the season, write a weather phrase for that season and tell what clothing they (je), he (il) or she (elle) is wearing with a colour as a descriptor. Students will need 4 paragraphs, one for each season, and will be illustrating a person based on their sentences. Below is an example of a paragraph and some helpful words as well as an example from last year.
This week we started clothing (vêtements) vocabulary! This is last group of vocabulary before students start their big assignment next week that combines: the seasons, colours, weather and clothing. Students learned the phrase "je porte...." which means "I wear" and then had to fill in the sentence first with an article of clothing and then with the article of clothing followed by a colour. Below is the clothing vocabulary.
Students have been working on mastering their numbers in French to 69. We have practiced in multiple ways including singing songs and playing number "Bingo!" Students will have a listening test on their knowledge of numbers next week in class. Ten numbers will be repeated twice in French and students need to write the correct numeral for each. The numbers are below for further practice at home, as well as the songs we sang in class. 4A will have their quiz on Monday, March 12th, and 4D will have their quiz on Tuesday, March 13th. We continued to practice using weather vocabulary and nouns. Students made a weather cube they will be using next week. Both classes will have a weather quiz. It will have matching, fill in the blank and a listening section.
4E weather quiz: Wednesday, March 7 4B weather quiz: Thursday, March 8 Students presented their finished un sac a dos (backpack) project to their peers this week. After practicing with a partner beforehand, they then read aloud their written paragraph and showed off their artwork to the class. Students are continuing to improve in their accents, phrasing and fluency in French! Their project and marked rubric will go home shortly. Students will also have a quiz next week on the vocabulary we have been studying in class, which include places in the school and classroom objects & supplies. Students are not required to memorize French spelling of words. 4A will have their quiz on Wednesday, February 28th, and 4D will have their quiz on Thursday, March 1st. Students can take home their duo tang to study if they wish. I have attached the vocabulary below as well.

Over the past two weeks, students have been learning the 4 seasons and different weather words and weather vocabulary. They are learning how to ask what the weather is: "quel temps fait-il?" and various ways to answer "il fait froid" (it's cold). They will be using this vocabulary over the next several weeks in a variety of different activities.
This week students continued to work on their un sac a dos projects in class. Projects were sent home on Tuesday or Wednesday to finish and practice for their presentation next week. 4D will present on Tuesday, February 20th and 4A will present Wednesday, February 21st.
All students have now completed their dictionaries in FSL 4 and most have also created their sac a dos (backpack). The next part of this project work is a presentation. Students are writing their own version of the presentation in the file below. They will tailor it to reflect what is in their own individual backpack. At the end of this unit we will have a quiz that will consist of a listening section, a short fill-in-the-blank and a matching question. Please find the sample script in the file attached:
